Formerly Utilized Defense Sites (FUDS)

The majority of FUDS are from the World War II era and served as army air fields. Most of these properties have been transferred or sold to cities, especially in the case of airports. These sites typically have groundwater contamination issues from the solvents used to maintain and clean airplanes.

The government budget for the clean-up of FUDS projects is grossly underfunded to cover all the sites that are identified as in need of remediation. Many property owners are in a “wait” mode hoping that FUDS appropriated funds are made available to them. The Session Law Firm has the experience to analyze the sites and deal with government agencies to achieve settlement with the Army and move remediation forward.
